Desktop Optical Drive: Desktop Computer DVD CD Blu-Ray Drives

Choosing the right desktop optical drive allows you to set up a multimedia system that meets your personal or business computing requirements. There are five basic options to choose from when deciding whether you want a CD drive, a DVD drive, or both. You may choose more than one desktop optical drive when customizing a new desktop computer or selecting a refurbished desktop. Having dual desktop computer drives will allow you to complete two tasks at the same time. Think about how you are going to use your desktop before choosing a desktop computer optical drive. The lowest-priced new desktops on the market usually come with at least a CD DVD combo drive that lets you burn CDs and watch DVDs. Some low-priced desktops come with DVD burner desktop computer drives that let you burn both CDs and DVDs. Here are the 5 options to choose from when selecting a desktop optical drive:

1) Desktop computer CD-ROM drives: Allows you listen to CDs and
load software from CDs.

2) Desktop computer DVD-ROM drives: Allows you listen to CDs, view DVDs, and load software from CDs and DVDs.

3) Desktop computer CD-RW drives: Allows you listen to CDs, load software from CDs, and burn CDs.

4) Desktop computer CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drives: Allows you listen to CDs, view DVDs, load software from CDs and DVDs, and burn CDs.

5) Desktop computer DVD-RW(DVD Burner) drives: Allows you listen to CDs, view DVDs, load software from CDs and DVDs, and burn CDs and DVDs.

Like I stated above almost all new desktops on the market today come with option 4(CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo drive) or 5(DVD Burner). Some new models also have desktop computer Blu-Ray Disc drives that allow you to watch and/or burn Blu-Ray Discs as well as burn CDs and DVDs. Where the other three desktop computer DVD CD options come into play is when you want a second(dual) desktop optical drive so that you can write to one drive while reading data from the other. Or maybe you want to watch a DVD while burning CDs. It's totally up to you. The bottom line is that it's worth checking out what kind of desktop computer optical drive comes with the desktop you are considering buying. If the specifications don't meet your personal or business computing requirements then look over any customization options available and see if you can bump up to the next level of desktop optical drive systems.
